Graduate Student & Postdoc Opportunity Fair

The SPD Committee will host its 5th annual Graduate Student & Postdoc Opportunity Fair virtually on Wednesday, November 5, 2025

This event is aimed at undergraduate/graduate students with backgrounds in Physics, Astronomy and related disciplines (engineering, computer science, AI…) who are considering a career in Solar Physics, Heliophysics and/or Space Weather. The goal of this event is to introduce prospective grad students and postdocs to US-based institutions that teach and/or perform research in these areas, with the ultimate mission of unraveling the mysteries of our nearest star.

Previous year’s Fairs had about 150 early-career participants from the US as well as from international institutions.

This virtual event is split into two sessions:

  1. Graduate Programs (10:00 am – 11:30pm US Pacific time): this session is aimed at prospective graduate students. We will start with brief introductions of the folks representing the various graduate programs. A long breakout for Q&A discussion will follow.
  2. Postdoctoral Opportunities (12:00pm – 1:30pm US Pacific time):  this session is directed towards attendees looking for postdoctoral opportunities. We will start with brief introductions of the postdoctoral programs and institutional representatives. A long breakout for Q&A discussions will follow.

Please note that pre-recorded videos with additional information of the different programs will be made available in advance.

We will release a detailed schedule ahead of the event and you are welcome to drop in to the segment(s) of your interest.
